What To Do In Cape Town This Easter

With Easter weekend looming ever closer we thought it might be a nice idea to give you some ideas about all the exciting activities you can take part in, in Cape Town this Easter. This year the Mother City is hosting some fabulous events for people of all ages.

Table Mountain Easter Egg Hunt

Every year on Easter Sunday, Table Mountain hosts the annual Easter Egg Hunt for kids to enjoy.  Hop the Easter Bunny, Sparkle the Easter Fairy, and The Mad Hatter wake up bright and early to hide Easter eggs and chocolate treats all over Table Mountain for your kids to find. The kids are then given treasure maps that will assist them in their hunt. In order to take part in this event you and your children will have to take the Cable Way to the top of the mountain, where you will be greeted by Hop, Sparkle and the Mad Hatter. The event will take place from 10 am to 1 pm on Sunday the 5th of April.

Meet The Easter Bunny At The V&A Waterfront

This free event which takes place at the V&A Waterfront on Good Friday (3rd April) and Easter Sunday (5th April) gives your kids the opportunity to meet the Easter Bunny in person. Celebrations include interactive dancing, face painting, photos with the Easter Bunny and Easter egg decorating crafts, all free-of-charge!

The Waterfront will also be hosting the popular Easter Petting Zoo, giving your kids the opportunity to cuddle up with some furry friends. The petting zoo will be open from the 4th of April to the 12th of April from 10am to 5 pm daily. Entrance cost is R20.

Easter Weekend At Spier

Spier offers a great selection of activities for your entire family to enjoy. Adults can enjoy a special Easter Wine Tasting, try the Signature Shiraz with a traditional cinnamon mini hot cross buns or Scotch eggs with Spier Creative Block 2, and dark chocolate and nut truffles with Spier 21 Gables Pinotage. This special tasting will cost you R65pp.

If you feel like eating something more substantial then the Seafood Braai at Eight Restaurant on Good Friday is a must. Platters start from R220pp, to book email eight@spier.co.za.

On Saturday take the opportunity to blend your own wine with the Spier Burgers & Blends workshop, which is hosted by the Spier winemaker. Pair your wine with a fabulous beef burger from Eight Restaurant, the burger will be served with delicious gorgonzola, plum and pink peppercorn chutney and chips.

On Sunday bring your kids and take part in a treasure hunt in the historic farmyard around the Werf. The treasure hunt will start from 11am and end at 3pm.  There will also be an Easter lunch on Sunday for R260 per adult and R150 per child.

Two Oceans Marathon

This year the iconic Two Oceans Marathon will take place on Saturday the 4th of April. The Ultra marathon which is a 56 km Marathon will tour the beautiful Cape Peninsula and will take participants via Chapman’s Peak, Hout Bay and Constantia Nek.  Please make sure to check for road closures on this day, before you make plans to jet set around Cape Town.
