How to spend your day in Cape Town

Cape Town has such a wide variety of things for you to do, that very often tourists are unsure of where to start.

A summer’s morning in Cape Town is truly spectacular, with low winds and low heat you will find that this is by far the best time to go gallivanting. We suggest that you wake up bright and early, and start the day with that all important breakfast. There are many places situated in and around town that you can try, but I thought I would take you a little out of your comfort zone and into the Southern Suburbs. If it is a sea view that you are after then Simon’s Town is the place for you. This picturesque historical village offers splendid views of the False Bay Coastline and Harbour. For a great breakfast we recommend that you try out The Meeting Place, this relaxed restaurant is situated on the main road of Simon’s Town and offers you charming views of False Bay Harbour.

Once you are fully energised for the day we recommend you take a drive to Boulders Beach to see the Penguins. Boulders is just a short drive from Simon’s Town and is therefore the perfect choice for your next destination. Boulders Beach which forms part of Table Mountain National Park, is now separated into two sections, the first section is the all famous Penguin viewing section where you are able to view the African Penguins in their nesting and breeding sites. The second section houses the charming Boulders Beach, where you are able to sit back, relax and tan. The beach side is by far the most glorious as the rock pools make it the perfect place for swimming. If you are lucky you might even find yourself taking a dip with a penguin or two! There is an entrance fee payable to the beach but it is minimal at R40 (adults and children over 12), R15 (children over two and under 12).

When you find yourself in need of lunch or something sweet then we recommend that you take a drive to Kalk Bay. Kalk Bay is a fishing village that is nestled between Simon’s Town and Muizenberg, it offers you plenty of restaurants and shops to explore along the coastline. If you are after an Ice-cream we recommend heading to Ice Café, but if you are after something a little more sustaining or with a little more punch then you must definitely try the Brass Bell Restaurant and Pub. The Brass Bell is made up of seven different sections all offering a slightly different view and atmosphere. We recommend that you try out the Bikini Deck or The Beach at the Bell. If you have kids and are wanting a child friendly option then The Beach at The Bell is perfect for you, take the childrens cozzies along as there is a pool for paddling in.

After a busy day in the sun, take a slow scenic drive over Boyes Drive before heading back to your apartment to freshen up and relax before your dinner plans kick into action. Whether you plan on swimming or having a spa day at one of our fabulous apartments in The Rockwell or being a bit more active and exercising at the Adderley Terraces gym, whatever it is we have the place for you.
